Bruna Lombardi, a Brazilian presenter and actress, recalled the time she had the chance to interview Donald Trump many years before he became president of the United States.
Trump and Lombardi met in 1992 at Trump Tower, located in New York City (USA), for an episode of the TV Manchete program Gente de Expressão.
At the time, he was introduced as a successful businessman with a fortune of 3 billion dollars who was involved in controversies surrounding his divorce from Ivana Trump.
More than three decades have passed, and Lombardi still remembers the first impression she had of Trump. “The first impression was that he already loved power and felt like he owned the situation. I immediately had that impression,” the actress recently said in an interview with presenter Marcelo Tás, from the program Provoca.
“I was polite because I had to do the interview. I would never have been anything other than that. I asked the questions based very much on what I was feeling, not on what I had written down.”
But one of the questions asked by Lombardi stayed with her more than the others. “I remember an absurd question I asked him: ‘Would you like to be president of the United States?’”
“He replied: ‘No, I’ve never thought about it.’ My friends still call me to this day saying: ‘What a great idea you gave him,’” the actress recalled.
